APRIL 25, 2024 – A small group from the New York Staff Band traveled to Puerto Rico to support The Salvation Army’s National Advisory Board event that was taking place. The focus and priority of the trip was to support the Fortissimo Music Program that was featured at the Gala Dinner and would be honored in a beautiful video highlighting various aspects of ministry in the Puerto Rico & Virgin Island Division.
On the main program during the event, members of the NYSB played alongside the Fortissimo Music Program students to form a larger band. A special highlight of this performance was presenting the music of Jose Taverez, who was leading the group and honored in the video that was previously shared, and Marlon Rosario, who was playing euphonium with the band and plays a pivotal role in the music programs in San Juan.
In addition to joining forces with the Fortissimo Music Program, the NYSB ensemble was able to present music prior to the gala dinner. The group was very well received and met with wonderful enthusiasm from the members of the board and local members of the Salvation Army in Puerto Rico.
It was a blessed time that had everyone encouraged and uplifted by the great things that are happening in the Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands division.
