It has been a privilege for The New York Staff Band to serve the Lord and a far-reaching audience through Salvation Army music-ministry for over 130 years. The band’s mission is three-fold:
•To bring public awareness to the work of The Salvation Army.
• To support fundraising efforts.
• To provide a model of ministry and music making.
While all three of these are very important, the central component of the New York Staff Band’s function is providing Christian ministry work through a high standard of music making with explicit programs geared towards young people. Youth who participate in Salvation Army music education programs have been proven to be emotionally healthier and gain usable life skills, essentially becoming better citizens.
From music workshops at churches visited by the band on almost a monthly basis, to the annual and intensive ‘Future All Stars Weekend’ where 60 young people sit alongside and are mentored by members of the New York Staff Band, the goal is to encourage and strengthen young people both musically and spiritually. It is the hope of the band to impact an emerging generation of leaders in a meaningful and positive way.
Today, that ministry is as vital as the day it began. We ask you to consider making a personal and practical impact by partnering with us as an Association Member or by renewing your already existing membership. Your gift will help enhance the education scholarships that are provided to college student band members, the Future All-Stars program and the ongoing efforts of the band.
The New York Staff Band has several levels of association membership with the benefits of each listed to the right and hope that you might consider one of these options to help secure many more years of impact of this important ministry.
