Shortly after arriving at Newark International Airport, the New York Staff Band found out that it would be starting things off slightly late for this year’s tour of England and International Congress in London – in this case, about a 3 hour delay.

After a smooth flight to Heathrow International Airport the band seemed optimistic and anxious to get things rolling, albeit a tad jetlagged. This particular tour marks the last for Bandmaster Ron Waiksnoris leading the band in England, and a first for the band  in joining the stage with the world famous Black Dyke Band, in Manchester. The band is greatly looking forward to tomorrow at the Royal Northern College of Music with Black Dyke, joined together on stage for the very first time – certainly a bucket list item for any bandsman.

With the coach leaving airport promptly, the band looked towards arriving in Manchester for a quick one hour rehearsal at RNCM. The band was eager to get the chops warm and fuzzy for the upcoming concerts that lay ahead. With the rehearsal wrapped up and coach loaded, the men and women of the NYSB set their minds on a long awaited nap.

As the reality of another exciting tour arrives, the band welcomes the chance to play and witness to eager and knowledgeable brass banding crowds throughout England. With a dual purpose mindset, the band intends to excite crowds with their sound and style, while delivering the message and gospel of Jesus Christ through music.

Time for bed!
